Welcome to my website! My name is Autumn Phillips and I am a graduate of North Greenville University. I have my Bachelor's in English and am a member of the English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta. This will be my 6th year teaching and I am excited to join the GTCHS community! I am a native of nearby Pickens County, South Carolina. My husband, Michael, and I currently live in downtown Greenville with our two cats. I grew up enamored with books and storytelling, I always knew I wanted to be a English teacher when I grew up. Whenever I am not teaching you can find me curled up in a coffee shop with a book or tending my garden. My husband and I are also avid hikers and enjoy our time outdoors as well as traveling. I believe in the life-changing power of stories and literacy. I believe that studying literature secures a better and brighter future for my students as well as offering them a place of comfort, respite, journey and growth. To quote Maya Angelou, "If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young,". My goal is for my students to leave my classroom not only having developed their reading, writing, and communication skills but also to have grown as individuals. I look forward to our 2023-24 school year! Go Warriors!
